John Wallace is an Irish film Producer and Co-Managing Director of COWTOWN PICTURES.
After graduating from Commerce in UCD, John started work as an assistant director on Irish and International productions. John established Black Sheep Productions in 2007 with writer Pierce Ryan, and directors Ronan and Rob Burke after the success of their short film ‘JELLYBABY’ (2006) This was followed by the short film ‘RUNNERS’ (2009) which won Best Short Film at the 2010 Irish Film and Television Awards.
Since then John has executive produced the feature 'KING OF THE TRAVELLERS' (dir Mark O'Connor 2012) and produced the features 'STANDBY' (dir Rob and Ronan Burke 2014) and the feature documentary 'SHOWRUNNERS' (dir Des Doyle 2014) for Black Sheep Productions. John has also produced the features 'REWIND' (dir PJ Dillon 2010) for Carbon Films, 'DOLLHOUSE' (dir Kirsten Sheridan 2012) for Factory Films which premiered in the Panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival and the feature documentary 'APPLES OF THE GOLAN' ( dir Keith Walsh and Jill Beardsworth 2012) for Two Pair Films.
In 2017/2018 John co-produced the features ‘END OF SENTENCE’ (dir Elfar Adalsteins) and ‘CELLAR DOOR’ (dir Viko Nikci), both for Samson Films and line produced the feature ‘ANIMALS’ (dir Sophie Hyde) for Vico Films. John also executive produced the feature documentary ‘PHOTO CITY’ (John Murphy 2017) for Black Sheep Productions.
John formally joined forces with producer Alan Maher in 2018 to work on a joint slate created by bringing together Black Sheep and Marcie.
John is a graduate of the EAVE, Eurodoc, Inside Pictures and a member of ACE.
